Former Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderers, Adelaide United and Perth Glory defender Antony Golec has decided to move back to the A-League with Central Coast Mariners.
The 27-year-old has seen out the past year in Moldova, Iran and South Korea, one of his honours was the Moldovan National Division title won in the 2015-16 season.
The defender, who played under Mariners boss Paul Okon for the Olyroos, alleged the eight months just gone was a “nightmare”.
He further said he will be out to scout for the passion he has for football with the Mariners after signing a 1-year contract with them.
He as well noted that he won the Moldovan Football League during his time in Europe.
“I was in Europe and won the league in Moldova then the last eight months has been a nightmare to be sincere, so I feel good to be back in the A-League,” Golec said.
“There seems to be no room for passengers in the A-League, therefore, needs to be sure he is up to the task, working hard and playing the best football, so I am in expectation for the challenge."
Golec made known that he worked with Paul Okon during the London Olympic qualifiers with the Olyroos.
He believeshe did an absolute great job in the last season to get where they got while also noting that their aim is to finish in the top six next season, which is well known to all the players and the staff.
Golec wants to get games under his belt and feel the football enjoyment again. Okon was surprised by Golec’s fitness having not played since his contract at Korean club Bucheon was terminated in February.
Golec is now the Central Coast’s latest signing following on from Tom Hiariej and Alan Baro.
