Ion Caras has returned to Moldova for his second spell as the national team manager after he recently confirmed his appointment.
Ion Caras will be taking charge of Moldova for the crucial 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which will be beginning shortly. He has said that it is a great honour to return to coach the Moldova national team.
This will be his second spell at the helm of the national team after previously guiding the team to various high-profile tournaments like the European and World Cup qualifying campaign's during the late 1990s.
Ion Caras will be taken charge of the Moldova national team on February 2012 when they will be playing a friendly against Belarus. This match will provide Ion Caras with the perfect opportunity to assess his new team, which is likely to have many new players from the team he once coached. The 61 year old Ion Caras has signed a deal with the Moldova football Association and it is a contract that will run until the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Ion Caras will be hoping that he will be able to guide his national team to the 2014 FIFA World Cup to be held in Brazil.
"It is a great honour for me to coach the national team again. I will try to create a friendly and patriotic team and hope that the players will perform at their maximum," said the former FC Zimbru Chisinau and FC Politehnika Chisinau coach. Moldova took nine points from their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, and will be facing the likes of England, Ukraine, and San Marino in their World Cup qualifying group.
Moldova will be most worried about Montenegro and Poland, as they could be real challenges for their position. Ion Caras has admitted that he will be looking to finish fourth in the table.
