MOLDOVA RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Moldova are back to winning ways following the victory over Andorra in their latest game in Group D1 of the current UEFA Nations League. Moldovan football features in the first group in League D alongside Andorra, Latvia and Liechtenstein.The Moldovans played hosts to Andorra on the back of a run of two matches without a win. They were able to end the winless run with the 2-1 victory over their guestsduring the game played last week Tuesday.

A pair of penalties either side of the half-time interval was enough to put smiles on the faces of Moldovan football fans at the expense of the Andorrans. Mihail Caicamov scored the first of the two Moldova penalties on 26 minutes to give the hosts the lead before Atletico Corazon FC of Spain midfielder Marcio Vieira levelled proceedings for Andorra in the fourth minute of first half added time.

Moldovan football fans had something to shout about again whenMaccabi Petah Tikva FC of Israel forward Ion Nicolaescuscored the second Andorra penalty five minutes into the second half. Nicolaescuscored what turned out to be the winneras Moldova sealed second spot in Group D1 ahead of the final two set of games in the group. The Maccabi Petah Tikva attacker made it three goals in four Group D1 games with the winning goal against the Andorrans. They returned to winning ways on the back of the 4-2 home defeat to Latvia on Friday, June 10. Latvia came from a goal down to secure an away win over Moldova.
The Moldovans began their Group D1 campaign with the 2-0 away win over Liechtenstein on Friday, June 3. Nicolaescu scored the opening goal for Moldova on the way to victory.
Moldova made it four points from two games with the goalless draw against hosts Andorra on Monday, June 6. The Moldovans ended the Andorra game with ten men. They suffered defeat for the first time during the Latvia game.
