The Romanian midfielder Adrian Ropotan, who recently signed for the Russian club FC Volga, has said that his main aim this season is to help the club avoid relegation. The 26-year-old arrives at the club on an 18 month contract.
He is a free transfer for the club after his contract with the Russian club Dynamo Moscow came to an end recently. Ropotan has said that he wants to play and demonstrate his skills. Due to the fact that the club has shown a lot of faith in bringing him, he wants to repay the faith by helping them avoid relegation this season.
The club are currently 13th in the Russian Premier league table, and they are only six points above the relegation zone. The club has managed just one victory in the last five matches. This poor run of form has seen them consistently slip down the table over the last few months. In order to avoid relegation, Ropotan is one among the two signings made by the club in the final few weeks of the January transfer window. The Moldova defender Vitaly Bordian will now be playing alongside the defensive midfielder Ropotan, as the team hopes to strengthen the defence with these players.
“I want to play, to demonstrate my skills. These guys have trust in me and I’ll try to help the team. This is the most important thing for me,” said Ropotan after arriving at the club on a free transfer. He has made five appearances for the Romanian international team, while he has been in Russia 2009. He has played more than 80 games with FC Tomsk and Dynamo Moscow. He will be hoping to utilise his experience to stop Volga from conceding goals. Two clubs are relegated from the division at the end of the season.
