The head coach of the national football team of Moldova, Ion Caras is hoping that his squad can end their negative streak of defeats which has extended to 3 successive losses after losing their latest 2016 Euro’s qualifying match against Montenegro with a score of 2-0. This match was played earlier in September with Montenegro hosting the game at the Pod Goricom Stadium and goals from Vuciniv and Tomasevic sealed the triumph for their team.
Moldova is now located at the bottom section of Group G with 0 points being accumulated so far.
A few months ago during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Moldova and Montenegro locked horns against each other with the final scoreboard of the match displaying 5-2 with Moldova picking up the dominating victory but this time around it was different as the team of Ion Caras failed on making an impact in the team and were dominated by Montenegro throughout the entirety of the game.
The next matches of Moldova will see the team of Ion Caras facing off with Austria and Russia during the month of October in a series of matches that Moldova are the underdogs and are not expected to claim triumphs.
Austria made a fairly impressive display some weeks ago when they managed to hold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sweden to a 1-1 draw. The defensive structure of the Austrians forced the star player of PSG on not being able to do much in the match while Russia are the favorites of advancing through the group stages of the 2016 Euro’s. Russia is currently being managed by Fabio Capello and the Russian side claimed their 2nd consecutive victory with a 4-0 win over Liechtenstein.
If Ion Caras can somehow manage to avoid suffering losses in the upcoming matches of his squad against Russia and Austria it will be a positive result for Moldova as just one point can help them make their way through the group stages and keep their hopes of progressing alive.
