Turkey defeat Moldova 3-1 with young players taking the shine. Both nations played the friendly game on Monday during the international break in Eskisehir.
Turkey dominated the entire match, opening the scoring within the first 15 minutes.
Emre Mor scored his first ever goal for the national team. He was the first of three youngsters that grabbed that debut goals for the national team. Ahmet Calik scored the second through a header. Cengiz Under made it three unreplied goals for the Turks.
Turkey thought they had wrapped up the game when the visitors came back to get a late consolation in the 92th minute. Radu Ginsari provided the respite for the Moldavian football team.
Before the Moldavian match, the Turks had defeated Finland on last Friday. Cenk Tosun scored a brace early in the match.The victory lifted them to the third spot in Group I with eight points. They equaled Ukraine’s points but they placed ahead of the Turks on the log in the race for Russia 2018. Croatia lead the table with ten points.
The Victory over Finland – the first ever home victory over the Finns – gives the Turks a chance to fight for a World Cup slot next year after a poor run of results. After six matches, Turkey get to defeat Finland at home. Finland won the last three games and played a draw in two before this loss.
For the Moldavian set-up they continue their poor run. They were thrashed by the Austrian side on Friday 2-0 in a qualifier. They defeated San Marino 2-0 just before their loss to Austria but it was a friendly game against a small nation.
